Governors are one of the largest volunteer forces in the country and play an important part in raising school standards. At Old Town we are in need of new people to join the team and help us provide an excellent al round education for our children.
The Local Governing Board meet a couple of times per term ( meeting dates are planned in advance), to discuss, challenge and support the Senior Leadership Team within the school.
Governors have the chance to bring their own expertise to the meetings, as well as getting involved with the daily life within school wherever possible. It can be a challenging role but also rewarding when progress is seen and projects completed.
Previous experience is not necessary, training and guidance will be given, we just ask you come with enthusiasm to ask questions, listen to the answers and help the school develop and grow.
We are always mindful of how busy life can be with commitments at home and at work and we work together to ensure that meetings are purposeful and limited to two hours. Most meetings will take place in the evenings however, some governors are available during the day and meetings can be arranged to accommodate them. Indeed, we welcome governors to come into school to see it in action and meet the children. At Old Town, Children are at the heart of everything we do!
The school is part of the Harbourside Learning Partnership and we work closely with the Trustees however, the Local Governing Board still retains responsibility for the school's standards and leadership.
Can you help us? If you would like to find out more details, please contact the school to speak to Mrs Whittle, Clerk to the Governors or Miss Harries, Head Teacher.
We are a multi-cultural school and would very much like this to be reflected in our governing body.
Please contact Mrs Martine Whittle, Clerk to the Governors' via the school office or by email at firstname.lastname@example.org or telephone 01202 673966
